- 6 cylinder 3.5 liter Turbo Diesel engine

- This car was originally from Monterey CA. It was turned in on trade for a new car in 2007. It was then purchased by the owner of a German Auto shop in San Luis Obispo, CA. The mechanic thought to keep the vehicle so all of the maintenance and repairs where brought up to date, including a transmission rebuilt. Due to financial difficulties, he sold the car soon after it was ready to be driven. Many of these 3.5 liter Diesel Mercedes engines had problems with the connecting rods, causing them to wear out prematurely. Most of the affected engines started showing signs of failure between 50,000 and 80,000 miles. Engines that were not affected seem to give trouble free service for 400,000 to 500,000 miles or even more. The engine in this car has not been replaced to my knowledge, however I believe it is healthy and good for many more trouble free miles. The car has not yet been converted, but we can perform either a dual tank or single tank conversion at the buyer’s request.
