This is a great Station Wagon. It has the rather hard to find optional rear seat headrests. It is a last year W123 body car, from California, so it is equipped with a special air filter. The car is completely rust free and has only minor dings and scratches that have been touched up. This car if very comfortable and would make a fantastic family veggie car or beach cruiser.
This very unique vehicle started its life as a W126 Sedan. We removed the rear upper half of the car and installed a similar vintage Six-Pack camper. The addition of the camper minus the weight removed from the car, raised the total vehicle weight by only 400 lbs. The rear springs has been modified to accept the extra weight by removing the old springs and installing taller units and shock extensions. The performance of this vehicle is unchanged. It remains completely freeway worthy. The camper is complete. It includes an icebox, plenty of cabinet storage and a gas stove. It has two beds capable of sleeping up to four.
We purchased this car a local Mercedes collector who
purchased the car from the original owners in
Temecula, CA. It was always covered while in the
garage. This car has reportedly been in the rain once.
This car was recently converted from a gasoline car to
a diesel. All parts were used from a 1979 300SD W116,
so the transplant is very clean. Everything looks
stock. This is possibly the only long wheel base W116
turbo diesel in existence.
